And for free, for gods sake, can't we pay for it somehow? big_smile
Also that spoiler heavy strategy guide, could I get a link to that?

@icemaster, I'm guessing the guides in question are the ones included in the encyclopedia on the dev's website at This link.

I've been reading through them myself in preparation to trying the game seriously, since this sort of thing it's better to be prepared for.

I'm also really looking forward to seeing the fantasy heroes game become accessible too, as heroes of might and magic is one I've always wanted to play myself.

With our dreaming and singing, Ceaseless and sorrowless we! The glory about us clinging Of the glorious futures we see,
Our souls with high music ringing; O men! It must ever be
That we dwell in our dreaming and singing, A little apart from ye. (Arthur O'Shaughnessy 1873.)

Actually, when I talk about a strategy guide I'm referring to this ridiculously comprehensive thing. It's a scan with decent OCR, and I've found the PDF reads reasonably well with, say, VoiceDream Reader for iOS. It's several hundred pages which go into astonishing detail about almost every aspect of Master of Orion. I'm told there is a similar tome for Civilization but have yet to find it.

Note that, since this is not strictly Orion itself but just a very faithful clone, it's possible some of the detail in the guide might not be accurate, but I don't imagine the details will vary all that much.

That is massive. Thank you for that.

Can you create new colony ship types with the design tab? I'm a bit confused with the ship designing process.

2022-02-10 23:46:39

Yeah, a colony ship is just any ship with a colony base special module attached. You might want to hit "clear," when you first start a design, to let you add things from scratch. It's also slightly confusing that the VO label for the special slots is typoed "speical," at the moment.

The manual also has info on how the ship design process works, if you're not certain on the mechanics of it.

I'm sorry for bringing this back, but I got into the galaxy mode a few days ago, and I have to say its quite awesome. Before I ask my question, I'm going to help out someone else first.
@55, to design a new colony ship, you're going to have to make the size either large or huge. IN the special, or rather, speical, sections, and select the module for the type of planet you want it to be able to settle. Ship building is pretty easy IMO. When you select the thing you want to modify, example the main armourment, you tap the top of the screen, and you should be on the weapons listing. HTH

Now my question is the following. When I'm exploring the galaxy, I usually get to a planet that's either an orange or Yellow sun. When I try sending scouts to investigate, it says something to the extent of, "Guardians attacks <insert your race name here>"

"Versus one huge, guardian wins". No matter what I do, what ships I send in, be it ships with the biggest and best armourment, ships with the most destructive nukes, or the most heavily armoured, nothing can defeat it. Any help would be appreciated. Alsop, how would I go about doing diplomacy with alien factions? Do I have to discover them? Or can I communicate with them? And how can I spy on other factions. Again, thanks for your help guys. Really loving this one

oh boy. I have a love/hate relationship with BC4000. If you ever want to see a reenactment of lion king, just watch me play BC4000 on One of the Africa maps. basically, like the movie, everybody was starving and sick of me. LOL.

Woww, this sounds just like the legendary Civilization games from Sid Meier, (loved playing those), yes, I will definitely check this out for sure!

Oh no, wait, this game cannot be played with a PC, right?
(except with some emulator maybe, which I never managed to make to work well enough)

I've picked this up again and am running into major issues that make the game basically unplayable for me. In a nutshell, the game doesn't seem to be overlaying screens such as the research tree or the city view properly anymore, because even though VO makes the open screen sound, the only thing I can still see is the map and unit controls. When I turn screen recognition on though, I can see that the overlay is definitely there. Anyone else experiencing this?

Are you running iOS 16?‘s some other people say the experience baggy behavior With Sonar Islands.

Yeah, that might be it. Oh well, in that case I guess we'll have to wait for the dev to fix it.

I just discovered this and am trying to play it in galaxy mode, I believe this is now a separate app called AD3000.

How do you use the map to get oriented? The biggest trouble for me is finding things near my homeworld to colonize and understanding where things are to each other.

2023-07-01 20:31:39

Honestly, the galaxy mode is a bit trickier than the regular Civilization clone. IT's a version of Master of Orion, in case you weren't aware.

The best approach I've found is to use the map screen to get oriented, and explore by touch to find nearby stars when scouting an d such. IT's kind of irritating, however, and I prefer the command-line version (1oom), if I'm being honest.

2023-07-02 07:03:27

Yeah, I had lots of fun with 1oom but was pretty bummed out that combat was practically inaccessible if you didn't resolve them automatically. Wonder how its handled for the galaxy mode for this app.

I'll give the civilization mode a spin.
