Well I like the game but to be honest, for 10 bucks for the initial game, maybe if it included pack1 it would be worth 10.
But its not worth that much, I'd charge 5 bucks for the game, and maybe 2 bucks a pack.
I brought mine racer for 5 bucks when it was first released and while its good its not worth 7 bucks.
Thats not saying I won't pay like that for it because I am a sucker for this and few games are ever released for audio games in general but even systemfault is a little overpriced for what you get though that att least is being added to.
I suspect the music and sounds may be most of the cost which makes sence they are rather good sounds and music.
I have not managed to handle some of the games right but like the ones in the basement and living room and the porch.
The backyard is hit and miss with both of those games but still.
As for subscribing to games with patrion, like 10 bucks a month, would be fine but you guys on 2mb really don't release games that often.
Also be mindfull that every 10 bucks us is 15 nz here.
So for your expantion pack and your other game thats 30 bucks.
30 bucks is good for a on sale older mainstreamer but really this isn't really it.
By the way if you go to www.cutt.us/blindvms you should be able to listen to the podcast ep13 of the blindvms cast which has like every game that came here as of yesterday.
So its not all a waste of time.

Hi.
Thanks for posting the link to the Blind VMS podcast, where the games are demonstrated. After having heard the demonstration of the newest games, I can tell that I won't pay for that. We already have a ton of minigames and arcade games in Crazy party, and that is free. Unlike the Haunted house, crazy party even supports scoreboards, unlockables and online gameplay. Therefore, I feel that Hunted house is just nothing I'll pay for. However, the sounds are good.

Best regards SLJ.

Well that is a shame.
Some of those games are quite replayable.
The seller game like mine racer is quite good as a game.
I'd pay for that.
The games in the living room is quite good as a game set.
The bard and the darts do make you concentrate.
The apples game is ok but may need work.
In the back yard I could never centre pumkins or the kids right with the gollem though and never got those.

I'd buy the games even at those prices, my main reason to say what I did was my opinion and mine alone.
Others may have different.
However I believe that the game and the pack on their own are worth a lot less.
Anyway, since pack1 came with the game it would make sence to sell pack1 and the game as the game, then have pack1 as another newer pack.
5 bucks a pack or the game would be reasonable.

Mine racer alone was worth the 5 bucks I brought it for but as it is now 7 bucks is still a little higher for what it is.
However its still complex enough that I'd still buy it.
None of these games are truely bad per say.
And I don't want to discourage a developer no matter how high they charge after all this aint breakerbox which had also good sounds but had other issues.

I'll admit, I was tempted to wait until the trophies were added before getting this, but then I thought, $3.66 per minigame, that's not actually too bad given the sound quality shown in the demo, so I decided to buy the thing, particularly because my lady will also enjoy this.

After getting their shopping system to finally accept my details (it kept doing weird things), I downloaded both the original game and the pack and decided to give them a go.

so firstly, over all I really like the presentation, the survival mode and the play through all of the games are a nice idea, reminds me of Bsc's hunter, though given how tough some of these games are, surviving will not be easy I think, then again, if you're going to be selling minigames, no point them being easy to master first time around. As I said of mine racer when I tried the demo, this is good old, atari level difficulty we're talking here.

I also really like the haunted house music and ambience, although some options to turn the music down might be nice, since I had to use the windows volume mixer to get NVDA and the bgm from the game to balance out correctly.

Locating the games by room is a nice touch, especially with more games and locations becoming available later on.
Okay on to the games themselves.
It seems a bit odd that the learn game sounds menu comes before the instructions here, since I'm hearing sounds before knowing what the games are about which is a little strange. It might be nice if there was a read instructions key while your on the menu to hit "play", so you can match one to the other.

Pumpkin run:
I love the ambience for both yard games and the sound of the witch, the sterreo field on the witch seems a bit odd, since I haven't exactly worked out how the sound of her laughter correlates to how far away she is, indeed generally it seems both with her and the skeleton hands in the apple bobbing, if you hear them, they're after you so it's better to run.

I do wish there was a slightly clearer pitch distinction on the pumpkins and the witch here, particularly when travelling diagonally, since right now knowing when you're on the right vertical level for them is a bit difficult, meaning that you can't pull off easy strafing maneuvers like in something like great toy robbery or some of the crazy party games, though how much of this is just part of the tougher difficulty I don't know, since certainly I've done better and got more familiar with the finer gradations in the soundscape the longer I've played, which is nice.

The witche's Golem : I love the idea here, especially having to navigate around in such a weird way. Oddly enough, detecting the trick or treaters was less hard, though probably because I hammered the space bar a lot, what I found a bit more difficult was telling when I was about to ram into the trees since they get covered by the ambience, indeed the best tactic I've found for playing is counting steps, that and trying to pass the trick or treaters so I can turn the golem around and try coming at them from new angles.
Again, a bit more pitch shift on the vertical position would be useful here I think, though credit for a really unique game, even if one I do horribly badly at! 7 is my best so far, though I have managed to survive the full five minutes, which I can't say for some of the other games lol.

apple bobbing: It was the pure fiendish nastiness of this one that got me interested in the collection. Here, the pitch shifting is absolutely right, on both the apples and the skeleton hands, albeit I had to get used to the fact that the pitch shifting isn't related to vertical position from you, but distance. It's also with this one that I realized when you hear a skeleton, it's best to swim fast to the top of the barrel and try to stay away from it. Either way, probably my favourite of the top down games so far.

Skeletal bard: A surprisingly tricky game, though one I imagine I will master in time, also nice to see a more intellectual challenge in the pack. I like the way the difficulty is kept up by just how randomly the notes are played, and the fact that one mistake and it's game over, something else that must make survival mode a terror.

Darts: trickier than it sounded in the audio demo, but again, I like the way yu need to just get the rhythm of the dart throwing into your brain for this one, this one I think will particularly benefit from trophies and such being added, EG trophies for dart accuracy or getting through without waisted jumps. It says something that this is one of the easiest games in the collection, and yet getting the hang of it was still a task.

Escape the cellar: My favourite game hands down, very like mine racer as Crashmaster said earlier in this topic.
Sounds are awesome, and yee gods the death sounds are nasty!

My only real gripe here is how the hell do you punch the skeletons without getting strangled? However quick I am, as soon as I hit control, I always get throttled. I did wonder if you needed to dodge first and then punch, but that doesn't seem to work either, so any advice will be appreciated.

Despite getting my neck wrung several times though, this is still my favourite in the collection.

All in all, I like what I'm seeing so far.
though it has some rough edges, the most important thing, game design is there, backed up with some good quality sounds and ambience, also, I'll admit I am hoping to see more from this team, and indeed the haunted house in the future, especially in the matter of stat tracking and  trophies and such, making it a more long play game, and while I've not really got the cash to support them with monthly patreon donations, I'm more than happy to pay for what games they have out now, in the hopes it'll spur them on to bigger and better things in the future.

for me, the question is not "is the existing collection with it's six minigames worth twenty dollars", but "would I pay 20 dollars to support a developer's work based on the quality of games in this collection?" And to that second question, I can definitely answer yes!

@dark: In The Witches Golem, when you get close to the trees, you will start hearing the sounds of the monsters in the forest. That means that you will need to pay close attention which direction you were traveling when you started hearing the sounds from the forest because you will want to turn around pretty quickly. It's particularly hard when you get to a corner of the map.

To destroy the skeletons in Escape the Celler, you have to punch them right before they would grab you. It's a timing thing, and you can't just hit punch as soon as they jump out of the wall.

2022-01-24 22:13:46

Thanks king gamer.
The instructions for punching the skeletons are actually a trifle confusing, since they seem to indicate you need to be quick, rather than waiting for the skeletons to come close enough to bash them.

Gopt it now, though, and busted a few bone heads, big_smile.

If trophies are being added, then I might buy the games.

When playing "escape the cellar" has anyone been able to successfully break the skeletons when they come at you from the right side? Pressing the right shift and right control keys doesn't seem to work. I reported this during the beta testing phase but never received a response. Pressing either the left shift or left control keys work fine when the skeletons come at you from the left side.

2022-01-25 13:39:05

@Appleman, Yes, I've managed to hit them on the right side with King gamer's advice, but your window of action is really small, it's far easier to dodge them.

Imho the difference in difficulty here between hitting the skeletons and dodging them is a bit too extreme, especially since one milisecond wrong when trying to hit them, and you get a game over.

Then again I did say this was atari level difficulty here.

@slj, lack of trophies and progressive achievements is the big hole for me too here, since at the moment, however much you try with the games, and however much you play them, there's not even a high score record, let alone any rewards for things like playing a certain game a number of times, or surviving the full five minutes or the like, let alone killing a certain number of skeletons or getting a certain number of trick or treaters, either in one game, or in total across multiple plays.

I think though, once these sorts of things get added, this could be something quite special, especially for those who like a challenge.

Well ok, I admit I'd pay 20 bucks to support 2mb sound and music is really good.
However, to be honest why have espantion pack1 with the game and not just include it in the actual game for 10 bucks then make another pack later.
Then all we need to pay is 10 bucks.
Yeah for what it is worth the game is good for what it is.
I especially like the 2mb arcade chip style logo, makes me feel like picking up a handhold gameboy.
Actually maybe you could have someone picking up a whatever player unit at the start, turning it on, and hearing the logo, then when you exited turning it off and putting it away would add a touch to it I think.
Not sure if possible but I wander if you could independantly walk to the house and go through the various rooms or games like you did in crazy party.

2022-01-29 08:21:39

I can't get bobbing for apples to work from the single room thing. I click on it and it brings up this browser window and doesn't actually open the game.

Heroes need foes to test them. Not all teachers can afford to be kind, and some lessons must be harsh.

2022-01-29 20:54:57

@37, I had that problem too. I fixed it by picking the linear play option from the menu. Bobbing for apples worked there, and from that point it stopped bringing up the webpage in single play mode too.

FTR I've only technically completed the Golumn, darts and xylophone games. I assume completing the others is just a matter of surviving long enough?

I really do wish these games had a scoring system, because that would actually give me motivation to try and punch the skelatons, avoid jumping from my own shadow etc. But I don't think 2mb checks this forum much, so don't expect them to see comments in this thread

Make more of less, that way you won't make less of more!
If you like what you're reading, please give a thumbs-up.

Finally got around to this. I maybe accidentally bought it twice, and while I wouldn't say it's worth that much, I like it enough that I really don't mind big_smile .
Now we just need a bat-filled attic and some kinda witch's brew in the kitchen.
Anyway, really glad this exists. Considering Patrion.

Hi. This really sounds cool and I really wish I could try it, but unfortunately finances are not doing so great at the moment so this will have to wait. Just so I understand, is this supposed to be like how a dream works? Could someone please explain?

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

@RTT entertainment, hopefully this new database entry for Haunted house, should give you some idea of how the game works, as should listening to the demonstration on the 2mb site.

It's "like a dream", because the game has a sort of quirky horror theme, in its menus, presentation and in the minigames themselves, like getting dropped in the witch's cauldron if you lose in pumpkin run, or having clattering skeletal fingers trying to drown you while apple bobbing.
